Why Not Medication for Anxiety?

Some visiting this blog might wonder why I mention that medication should likely not be the first course of action for many of those with anxiety and panic attacks. You’ll have to discuss with your doctor if that is the right path for you. The most important thing is that medication should be used as part of an overall, holistic treatment plan. You can’t just cover up the symptoms and plan to get better. You have to approach the causes of your symptoms as well as imbalance in mind, body, and spirit.

There are some great medications out there that have helped a lot of people. But, many people have gone through undesirable side effects and have almost had their lives destroyed by these medications. There are even some that have shown to lead to a high risk of depression and suicidal thoughts (sadly, some have gone on to commit suicide who have taken these medications– and it has been determined to be a result). That’s not said to be scary. These medications have done a lot of good as well. Continue reading

Taking Magnesium for Depression and Anxiety

Magnesium is one of the better-known supplements experts recommend for the treatment of depression and anxiety. Yet, adults tend to get only around 250mg every day– the recommended RDA is 320-420mg every day. It’s not surprising that so many deal with symptoms since their body may be depleted of this vital nutrient. Why is that? Magnesium used to be much more abundant in soil. Our diets have also changed to include foods that are low in magnesium.

Magnesium and stress also go hand in hand. Those who are stressed tend to see drops in their levels of magnesium. That’s because stress causes magnesium to leave the body. If you’ve been under a lot of stress, you can start to feel the effects of things like anxiety, depression, and panic attacks more often and more severely. Continue reading

Taking Fish Oil for Anxiety

There are an incredible number of reasons why fish oil is one of the best supplements you can take for your health. Recently, a study came out that makes it a particularly good choice for readers of this site. It has been found to decrease anxiety by at least 20% in a study run using medical students.

This is one of the first studies of its kind, if not the first. It reaffirms what many have known for a long time– those who live in populations where they eat a lot of fish and other foods that contain omega-3 fatty acids tend to have lower rates of depression and anxiety. Continue reading

Control Panic and Anxiety

You’re on this site because you’re desperate to control your panic and anxiety. I know exactly where you’re coming from, because I’ve been there. In fact, that’s why I started this site in the first place. I wanted to create something that could be a great resource to those who are struggling with anxiety and panic.

It’s hard for those who’ve never experienced these symptoms to fully understand what we go through. They are quick to tell us to just “get through it,” when it could never be that simple. I want you to know that you’re not alone and you never will be. There are ways to get through this. What works for me might not work for you, and vice versa. It’s about finding your path to relief. Homeopathic Remedies for Anxiety

It’s incredible how many people are on medication for anxiety these days. In many cases, it is a solid decision to turn to medication. It can have powerful and fast results to help ease the symptoms so many people face. Medication should, however, be a last resort rather than a first resort. The Western world is often way too quick to slap a band-aid on the problem instead of trying to fix the cause of the symptoms. Taking a holistic, homeopathic approach to anxiety can help you feel whole again. Continue reading
